Review – Mother Road Market

So, today’s adventure was to the Mother Road Market where we were hoping to find 6-7 restaurants participating in the Vegan Chef Challenge. Well, as in all adventures, there are ups and downs. The upside was that we had a total of 5 folks who attended and seemingly liked one another. The downside was that only one restaurant was actually participating today and had only one menu item to try! To their credit, it was highlighted on a special stand in front of the ordering line with a full description.

The Vault and the Pure Food & Juice restaurants were not a participating branch in this instance. The 2-3 food trucks were not in attendance and LeRoux’s Kitchen was only offering their Vegan Challenge choices on Tues or Wed???

So, we ALL ordered Bodhi’s Bowl’s Fried Tofu Bulgogi Bowl. The staff was very pleasant and polite. The Bulgogi Bowl tasted fresh and the tofu was crisp with a sweet-salty coating. The apple and wontons gave it some more ‘crunch’. The kimchi was a bit spicy for some but all managed to eat everything. Since the portions were not immense, a couple decided on some vegan ice cream to finish off lunch.

Now, all of that being said, Mother Road Market has lots of restaurants and many of them offer vegan choices…they just chose to not be a part of the Vegan Chef Challenge…we will get them on board next year?

I would recommend you giving Mother Road Market a chance if you have not. They are all casual places but the choices are pretty good. There is plenty of parking at the rear and everyone seems to be having a good time in the large open eating area. Okay, join us on Friday evening for dinner at 6:30pm at In The Raw on Main St.

PS – One of our group had just gone to Saffron and ordered the eggplant dish and said it was over the top good. You might try that instead of what we ordered…just saying.
