Tis the Season: Plant-Based Diet & Allergies

Here in Tulsa, and, well, the entire country, the weather seems to be all over the place. One day it is hot. The next day it is cold. Spring is here and then Mother Nature says just kidding.

When the seasons shift and the weather fluctuates, many individuals find themselves grappling with sneezing, congestion, and headaches. Often, these symptoms are quickly attributed to allergies, but there’s another culprit that might be at play: weather sensitivity.  Weather sensitivity can manifest in symptoms that mimic allergic reactions. This is not the body responding to an allergen, but rather reacting to changes in the environment.

Sometimes, however, it is simply allergies causing problems for us, and Tulsa is certainly known for its allergens. The good news is that a plant-based diet may help with allergies according to a recent study. There are two articles, Why Plant-Based Diets Might Hold The Key To Fighting Allergies and Can a Plant-Based Diet Help With Allergies? New Study Says Yes that write about the study and the link between a plant-based diet and allergies if you would like to know more.

There is even more good news. If you want to possibly help with your allergies and enjoy good food, this weekend is the monthly Vegetarian Society Of Tulsa Monthly Potluck.  Also, tomorrow is the Tandoori Guys Monthly Vegan Buffet.
